Great Fun Making This one.

THE CHALLENGE:

Set across multiple shoots: 3 separate competitions / presentations and a major fashion show with multiple camera streams, celebs et all. Our brief:  ‘just start filming and see what you can come up with’...

Our commissioner at TBS throwing on the table: ‘i want the competition, i want challenge, I want X Factor,

 

‘I want beauty, fashion, style…’

…and oh yeah ( here’s the clincher)...’ i  haven’t got any cash and can only i pay you next year!’

Uhmmmm Tricky…  simply put, lets face it, the  Body Shop is a Global Brand… a ‘big cheese’ in the corporate world as the say and as such, a prize target for a small media agency like Ripple, trying to prove its worth. Worth bending over for temporarily then? Giving it your all (or taking it), in the hope that you’ll be taken seriously in the future… right!… Start the engines team, muster all ya skills… nothing more than 100%…. The work will be rolling in afterwards!

So with no brief to mention, no cash to run on,  Ripple Effect Media set to work with bigger things in mind…

Having allocated just 7 days to trawl through the resulting 25 hours of footage, it was as said, a challenge. Compiling, editing, source multiple licensed music tracks as well as composing them… ultimately we cut a long form edit at 12 minutes… Not an ideal length for the web but a mini doc in its self.  Ultimately, on advise from the client, we clipped it to 3 mins…

We’re proud of the results and TBS loved it…

About the author

National Geographic correspondent for the 2016, globally distributed, prime-time series of EXPLORER, Justin Hall is an Emmy-nominated documentary filmmaker, broadcaster and journalist. He is also a Fellow of the UK’s Royal Geographical Society, specializing in hi-tech digital storytelling technologies.
